Writing an Unplugged Ceremony Note for Your Invitation
An unplugged ceremony note asks guests to put phones away during a defined part of the wedding. State the request kindly, explain when photographs are welcome again, and align the wording with the hosts and photographer.
Define the period
Choose whether the request applies to the entrance, the complete ceremony or only particular moments. “No phones at the wedding” may sound like a day-long restriction when the couple only wants an uninterrupted ceremony. Avoid vague instructions that helpers will interpret differently.
Try this wording
“We invite you to be fully present during our ceremony. Please keep phones and cameras away from [start moment] until [end moment]; our photographer will capture it for us. You are welcome to take photos at the reception.” Adjust the final sentence if the couple has a different preference.
Make the request accessible
Add a short reminder at the entrance and have the celebrant or host announce it. Guests who use a device for communication or accessibility should be able to speak with the host without public attention. Do not promise everyone a photo gallery unless you have decided how permission, access and delivery will work.
