Catch Name Errors Before Printing a Wedding Seating List

Seating displays and place cards often use names copied from several sources. Proof them against confirmed guest preferences before printing, especially where initials, nicknames or transliterations are involved.

Create one name column

Keep a preferred display name for each confirmed attendee. Do not use a phone contact label such as “Ravi office” or “Auntie Delhi” as printed text. Confirm uncertain spelling with the guest or the family member responsible for that invitation.

Check people and tables together

Review whether each person is at the intended table and whether households have been split deliberately. Use the current attendance version and mark any unresolved guest substitutions. A beautifully spelled card still creates confusion if it points to the wrong seat.

Proof the final artwork

Read the exported display at its intended size and check alphabetical grouping, table numbers and duplicated names. Have a second person compare it with the approved list. Keep a small correction plan for late changes, such as a host helper with the current seating record. Do not publish the full guest seating plan online unless the hosts have deliberately chosen that audience and sharing method.
