What to Check in a Wedding “Add to Calendar” Entry

A calendar entry is useful only when its date, time and location match the invitation. Test the actual saved event, because a button label can look correct while the calendar opens with a different duration or time zone.

Define the event precisely

Use a title that identifies the couple and function, such as “[Names] — Reception”. Enter the event's local time zone, arrival time and an appropriate end time confirmed by the host. If the end is uncertain, say so in the description rather than inventing a precise finish.

Check the saved result

Open the link on a phone, review the proposed event before saving and compare it with the approved schedule. Check the venue address, map link and RSVP note. A multi-day wedding usually needs separate entries for separate functions; one block covering the entire weekend can be misleading.

Explain future changes

A downloaded calendar file may not update automatically when the wedding website changes. If timing changes, message guests and tell them to edit or replace their saved event. Include the invitation URL in the calendar description so guests can return to the current information. Remove any test event from your own calendar after checking it.
