Sent a Wedding Invite to the Wrong Person? What to Do
If an invitation reaches the wrong person, correct the mistake privately and check what information was included. A calm, direct message is more helpful than sending additional explanations to a whole group.
Send a brief correction
“I'm sorry, I sent that invitation to this contact by mistake. Please disregard it, and please don't forward the link. Thank you for understanding.” If you know the person, use your normal tone. Do not blame them for opening a message you sent.
Review the link's contents
Check whether the page exposes private accommodation details, a restricted guest list or an editor link. A public invitation URL may be harmless to view, while an administrative link needs attention from the person managing the website. Do not send editor credentials as a substitute for an invitation link.
Prevent a second mistake
Verify the intended recipient's number, remove the wrong contact from your sending sheet and mark the correction. If the page contains sensitive family information, ask the site manager about restricting or replacing that information. Message deletion alone should not be treated as proof that nobody has seen or saved the invitation.
