Remove Test RSVPs Before Your Real Guest Count
Testing an RSVP form is necessary, but test responses should not reach the final attendance total. Label them deliberately and verify that removal or exclusion works before opening the invitation to guests.
Use recognisable test records
Enter a clearly artificial name such as “TEST — please exclude”, along with test contact details appropriate to the system. Avoid using a real guest's household reference, because the test could overwrite or confuse their response. Test acceptance, decline and any supported event choices.
Check the complete flow
Confirm that the response appears where the host expects it and that the guest sees a useful confirmation. If the form sends emails or messages, use contacts you control and know which notifications are triggered. Do not test with unsuspecting guests' numbers.
Clean up before launch
Delete or mark test records as excluded using the supported controls, then export totals and confirm that the tests are absent. Keep a brief record of what was checked outside the guest list. After the first real replies arrive, verify one with the host to catch mapping issues early. A successful form submission is only one part of a trustworthy attendance workflow.
